Our Last Day In Portland
Drilling, boxing, discovering flaws in cellular plans.
Hauling, stacking, shuttering storage.
Sweeping. Locking the door, buying insurance.
Quaffing red. Tearing chicken from the bone.
Detailing instructions. Changing addresses.
Zipping shut our packs.
The maelstrom subsides four hours before we need to be at the airport.
It’s one of the rules: “start perturbing your sleep before you get on a long-haul flight.”
Nearly sleepless,
Chris
Goodbye, housework! There’s a lot to be said for living out of the expertly outfitted backpack.
